A position for a PhD student is available in Dr. Jessica Head's laboratory at McGil University's Macdonald campus (jessica.head@mcgill.ca).  This student will investigate the effects of early life exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in birds.  We are interested in how epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation and histone modifications regulate the molecular response to PAHs early in life, and how this translates to effects on adults later in life.  The project will primarlily be lab-based, but there may be opportunities to translate findings to the field.

A strong backgrounnd in molecular biology or biochemistry and an aptitude for lab work is essential for this position.  Priority will be given to prospective students who also have an interest in environmental science.

Application Deadlines:  March 15 (International Students) - May 31 (Canadian or Permanent Residents)
please email me (jessica.head@mcgill.ca) for application information.
